Industrial Scrubbing Towers
Gas Scrubbing & Absorption
Whether you need to remove acid gases like SO2 or HCl, solvents such as alcohol, or even trace amounts of odors like hydrogen sulfide, these towers are designed to deliver exceptional performance.
Why Choose Packed Towers?
Packed towers offer several advantages over other gas scrubbing and absorption technologies. For one, they have a smaller footprint compared to other options like tray towers or spray towers. This makes them ideal for use in space-constrained industrial settings. Additionally, packed towers have a higher mass transfer rate, allowing for more efficient absorption of gases and vapors.
Packed Towers allow for the removal of water-soluble chemicals and facilitate gas-to-liquid transfer processes. Some of the key applications include:
- Gas Absorption – For acid gases, ammonia, and solvents.
- Odor Control – Ideal for removing trace odors such as hydrogen sulfide.
- Gas Cooling and Aeration – Facilitates cooling of gases or introducing oxygen into liquids.
How Do Packed Towers Work?
At the heart of our system is a counter-current flow arrangement. In this configuration, polluted gas enters the tower at one end while a scrubbing liquid (typically water or a chemical solution) is introduced at the opposite end. As the gas and liquid move toward each other, they exchange mass through physical and chemical interactions, resulting in the removal of contaminants.
Mass Transfer Efficiency
The counter-current design maximizes the gradient for mass transfer. As a result, the scrubbing liquid absorbs a higher concentration of pollutants near the gas inlet where contaminant levels are greatest.
Fluid Dynamics
The design minimizes channeling and ensures even distribution of the scrubbing liquid over internal packing material. This promotes consistent contact and improves removal efficiency.
Chemical Reactions
Depending on the process requirements, the scrubbing liquid can be tailored with reagents that react with acidic or alkaline gases, converting them into less harmful compounds.

Key Features of Packed Towers
Our scrubbing towers are engineered with a focus on durability and precision. The construction emphasizes components and materials that stand up to harsh industrial environments.
-
Packing Media
-
Random Media (Most Common): Creates turbulence and enhances mixing by continuously breaking apart liquid droplets.
-
Structured Media: High-performing for specific applications requiring precision.
The material—metal or plastic—depends on temperature, gas type, and required durability.
-
-
Liquid Distribution
An even liquid distribution is essential for optimal function. Options include:
-
Spray Distributors for standard applications.
-
Special Distributor Trays where meticulous liquid coverage is required.
Our experts design the right configuration for your application, ensuring cost-efficiency and effective operation.
-
-
Corrosion-Resistant Construction
Components are manufactured from corrosion-resistant alloys and metals or engineered plastics. This selection is critical to maintain integrity and reduce maintenance over the system’s operational life.
-
Minimal Pressure Drop
Our design minimizes pressure loss across the tower. Lower pressure drops reduce energy consumption for forced draft systems, contributing to a more efficient overall process.
